1U is One rack unit size devices, that are 19" wide.
8U is eight rack unit high devices, that are 19" wide in standard rack enclosures. Usually need 4 point installations. It means Rack cabinet must have rear rails to support the weight of the servers. Often Blade, Superblade, Microblade systems or most powerful Multi-processor servers and GPU servers.
Compact servers are small form factor servers and often in Embedded series servers. Low power and effective design for variety of edge computing applications.
3U is three rack unit high devices, that are 19" wide in standard rack enclosures. Usually need 4 point installations. It means Rack cabinet must have rear rails to support the weight of the server. Mostly sliding rail kit is included with servers.
